Research Interests:

  • Structure and conformation of organic molecules and supramolecular complexes by NMR, mass spectrometry (MS), X-ray diffraction and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations
  • Structure of inclusion complexes of natural and chemically modified cyclodextrins.
  • Structure of reverse micelles.
  • Local structure of ionic liquids..

Reaserch projects in progress:

  • Validation of protocols for MD simulation of cyclodextrin inclusion complexes.
  • Chiral recognition of by natural and modified cyclodextrins.
  • The local structure of novel ionic liquids.
  • Application of Diffusion Ordered NMR spectroscopy to structural problems.
  • Investigation of non-covalent aggregates by heteronuclear NOE.

  • Multinulceare NMR spectrometer (1H freq.: 400 MHz)
  • 1H/13C/19F/31P NMR spectrometer (1H freq.: 500 MHz) with pulsed magnetic field gradients.
  • HPLC-MS instrumentation, electrospray ionization source (ESI) and quadrupole ion trap detector (QITD).
  • Differential scanning calorimeter

Consolidated collaboration on MD with Prof. Ganazzoli's unit.
Collaboration required: synthesis of chemically functionalized cyclodextrins - chromatographic applications of cyclodextrins - polymers.
